Tax season 2019
While you will be busy in your business operations, thinking that the tax season is still way too far, you might wake up one day and find that there is no way you can meet the deadline of filing taxes. Such situations happens with many business owners as they take the tax season very lightly.
But things shouldn’t happen this way as in the rush of filing taxes, you might miss many benefits and even fall in the nightmare of penalties. You should know that maintaining books, keeping financial records in place and keeping a track of your accounts are all a part of your tax filing process as with a more neat and clean accountability, your tax filing process will become much easier.

The guide mentioned in this blog post will help you to pass the tax season like any other normal season of the year and that too, without any hassle or inconvenience.

Know all the details
Before getting indulged into the hectic process of tax preparation, you should start collecting all the details regarding the new tax season. Every tax season is not the same, as new rules, forms, and many other things changes for tax filing after a year. For example, the tax season 2019 has introduced the new tax form 1040 which is like a postcard but with more complex entries.

You should be well aware of the new deductions as many deductions are reduced while other deductions are altered for improvement. Getting familiar with the new deduction might increase your tax benefits.

Gather all the documents
There are many documents which you might need in order to file your taxes successfully. Therefore, you should start gathering all the required documents from now to avoid the chaos during the tax season. You might need to gather your full copy of previous tax returns, documents related to expenses, assets, employment taxes, purchases, gross receipt, insurance premiums, transport, and travel,  etc.

The list of documents required for filing the taxes is very long and managing them all physically is a big hitch for the business owners and therefore, instead of going with the traditional method of filing taxes, you should rather choose the digital format in which there is no risk of security. Using digital tax filing process simplifies your operations and allows you to collect your document in a much easier way.

Get these forms
There are various forms which you need to fill in order to file taxes. The type of form depends on the type of business you are dealing with but here we have listed some of the most tax forms which almost all citizens will need.
  • W-2 form- This is the first form which you will need and it is provided by the employer to show how much money you have earned and how much money you have paid in taxes.
  • Form SSA-1099- This form is essential for you if have received any type of social security benefits. If your whole income is from social security benefits then you will not even need to file a tax.
  • Form 1095-A- It is for giving the information to IRS about any type of enrolled health plan through the Health Insurance Marketplace.
  • Form 1098- This form is used for giving information about the mortgage interest, student loan interest, tuition payments, etc. Each interest requires a different section of the form for example, in case of student loan interest, you will need Form 1098-E.
  • Form 1099 INT- You will get this form from your bank in case you have received any interest from your saving or dividend during the last year.
  • Form W-9 – You will have to use this form for providing the correct TIN.

Use e-filing
If you are still using papers for filing taxes then you are living in an old age because e-filing is the new normal for people. The growing trend of filing taxes digitally can be witnessed in the reports published by the IRS which says that only 9% of the people filed taxes through papers.

So instead of belonging to that 9% of people and taking all the risk, hassle and hitches in filing taxes, shift to the rest of 91% of people and make tax filing a pie.

By following the guides mentioned in this article, you will be a well aware of the things going around in the tax world while preparing for it with precision and accuracy.  We are just two months away from the start of the new tax season and it’s high time to get all geared up for filing taxes in the New Year.
