The upgraded version is available for both Mac OS and Desktops.

• If you want to keep your software up to date with new features.
• If you need to work with online services because some of the online features will not work in the older version of QB after a certain time. 
• Any specific feature that you had wished for and is now available in the new version.

How to easily upgrade to the latest QuickBooks?

Upgrading to the latest version of QuickBooks may not be as hard as it seems. 

While it isn't compulsory to constantly upgrade your QuickBooks, the upgraded version gives you access to various features older versions don't have. It also offers a different method of data storing and analysis.

The steps to upgrade your QuickBooks include:

Step One: Back up your existing version

• First, open your current version on your desktop or Macbook.
  
• Log in to your business file using admin user access.
  
• At the top left taskbar of your screen, select the file menu.
  
• Click on the file menu.
  
• A pop-up bar will appear. Click on the backup company option.
  
• Once you've successfully opened the backup company option, another pop-up bar will appear. 
  
• On the pop-up bar, click on the "create local backup" option.
  
• You will be directed to create a backup window.
  
• Various options automatically appear to select where your files will be backed up.
  

Note- A backup is only stored online and on a PC. Choose backup storage and keep it.

Step Two: Update to the latest version

For the upgrading, there are exceptions to this step. If your company is new to QuickBooks, your files may not be functional with the former version. 

Before the update, log out all users

• Open the latest version 
• Select the restore company button at the top left corner of the taskbar. It's applicable if you don't have a company file. 
• Restore files.
• Select a local backup file.
• Your computer will browse for the files. After which, a new window will appear.
• Click on the “Update  Now” bar at the bottom right corner. Your update will resume.

Note- Before any upgrade, QuickBooks creates a backup file for your company. There's an option to change the location of your files. 

This method for an update is quite different from the former. Below are the most straightforward steps to follow:

• Open your application.
• On your menu bar, click on the help bar. 
• An “update QuickBooks” option will appear. Select it.
• Immediately you click on the update, an update window will appear.
• At the top of the screen, select the options bar.
• An unmark and mark all buttons will be visible. Click on the mark all button. 

After clicking the mark all options, save the options. And go back to the "update now" option.

Unlike the previous method, after clicking the update button, various options for further updates will appear.

Select which option your update requires. A “Get Update button” will appear. Tap it. Your desktop application will commence updating. 

After the update is finished, ensure you install it. The application will turn into a docx file if you don't install it. 

Open the application and install it. And close all tabs and restart your computer.
