But when it comes to syncing the QuickBooks files between two computers then most of the people are not clear about it. Syncing QuickBooks files help users to enhance their collaboration on a unified accounting report, that’s why in this article we will be looking at the step by step guide of syncing QuickBooks files between two computers.
Before syncing the files, you need to make sure that there is correct installation option for each computer and both the computers are connected on the same network or you can also uninstall QB on both the computers and then reinstall them with the correct options.

Now let us look at the trouble-free guide to sync QuickBooks files between two computers

  • First of all, you will need to install and download Intuit’s Data Transfer Utility on the computer which hosts the company files.
  • Then paste the Company file from the primary computer to the secondary computer
  • After that, start the QuickBooks on the primary computer. Then click on File and choose Company File on the secondary computer
  •  Select Open Company
  • Now in the Data Utility Transfer, select the button of Open Source Company  from the Export Data from source company
  • Select Yes and permit access even if QuickBooks is not running. After that, look for the options to allow the application to access personal data and then click on Continue, Yes and Done
  • Now in the data transfer utility, select the button of Close in the field of Currently Connected To
  • In QB, select File and choose Close Company
  • Now click on File>Open or Restore Company> Open a Company
  • Select Open Destination Company of Disk Transfer Utility from the Import Data into Destination Company
  • Now select Yes, always permit access even if QuickBooks is not running and then allow the application to access personal data
  • Click on Continue, Yes and Done
  • For the field of Currently Connected To in Data Transfer Utility, select Close  
  • Now in QuickBooks, click on File and choose Close Company
  • Select Type of Data and the Change button of Data Transfer Utility. Select an option which best presents the information which you want to import in the destination File
  • Go to Import data into destination in Data Transfer Utility and select the button of Import Data

Now you have successfully synced the QuickBooks files between two computers and the users can work very easily on the same accounting report with enhanced collaboration which will result in better productivity.
